It's All About Taking Charge

A performer's perspective on life can give you a sense of complacency - a chance to observe rather than act. Being a spectator is a great place to take a break, but it adds little value if you want to achieve your goals. The key to self-improvement is to take the initiative necessary to succeed.

Taking the initiative begins with you and your conviction that you are worth the effort. Set aside your excuses and focus on implementing a strategic plan of action if you want to get the most out of life.

Taking the initiative involves being proactive, creative, persistent, curious, and confident. You must be willing to delve into your inner self as part of the process in order to create personal goals that are meaningful to you and to carry them out in ways that are attainable.

Consider this.
How many times have you tried to improve something about yourself only to give up before taking any action?

Take charge to create a better, more enriching lifestyle by completing the following tasks:

Understand: Take stock of who you are and where you want your life to go.

Accept: Concentrate on what is important to you and let go of what you have no control over. Your inability to accept what you can't change will keep you from doing what you can.

Learn: Stay informed and base your decisions on facts rather than personal preferences or desires. Make use of trustworthy resources to educate yourself on what you need to do to improve both personally and professionally.

Be proactive: Create a realistic plan that includes your personal goals as well as action steps to achieve them. Limit your personal goals to two or three, with action steps that outline a realistic path to completion. When the time comes, add to your list. The best way to ensure success is to get started on your plan without overthinking it.

As you begin to implement your plan, evaluate your progress. Be adaptable and make the necessary changes to any goals or action steps that require it.

Commit: Don't back down or give up when things get tough. Accept obstacles as part of the process and use them to your advantage. Maintain your focus until your goals become a natural part of your daily life.

Celebrate: After each significant milestone, take time to bask in your accomplishments and congratulate yourself on a job well done.

Believe in yourself, and you will succeed. After all, it's all about you and taking the initiative to create a rewarding future full of health, happiness, and fulfillment.
